When Red Hot Ramble takes the stage at The Gables on May 5, area music fans will be treated to a Mardi Gras inspired experience in the true New Orleans tradition, but right here in Grand Bend! Jazz, African American field songs, blues, Gospel, marching rhythms and ragtime all had early beginnings in places like Preservation Hall, on and around Bourbon Street. Red Hot Ramble captures the spirit of New Orleans and pays homage to the music but in a manner that reflects their own musical experiences and influences here in Canada.
The five band members are seasoned festival, concert and club performers and all are virtuosos in their own right. The line-up includes vocals, keyboards, saxophones, trombone, upright bass and drums – a unique and exciting combination that captures and showcases the flavour of this vibrant music. Talking of flavour, the Gables is adding to the mix by including some choice New Orleans items on its special pre-concert menu. This is Grand Bend’s concert event of the season and an evening not to be missed!
Presented by the Grand Bend Art Centre, all proceeds go towards funding of local arts programs, in particular Grand Bend’s Community and School Music programs which have been successful in bringing music into the lives of local children and young people where it had previously been absent.
The show is scheduled to coincide with Grand Bend’s annual studio tour weekend, “The Stars Come Out”. Tickets are $40.00 in advance ($45.00 at the door), available from the Colonial Hotel, Baillie’s Picture Framing and www.ticketscene.ca . The Grand Bend Art Centre is registered as a charity with the CRA and partial tax receipts will be available at the event. Doors open at 6:00 pm; showtime is 7:30 pm.
